I began working with S when she was an executive in cable affiliate sales. She had a desire to grow her capabilities and combine her business acumen with content creation. Our initial work focused on navigating organizational relationships along with improving self-awareness–leveraging her engaging personality for increased leadership opportunities. When S was offered the chance to co-lead the launch of a new channel, she asked me to join her as she and her team strategized ways to connect with and serve a previously under-served audience. We worked together to create an entrepreneurial environment housed within a large company that became the “R & D” center as S and her team pioneered an industry shift from channel distribution to a convergent multi-platform content delivery strategy. We changed the way the team thought about themselves and their jobs: they were not simply creating entertainment; they were generating social change in an inclusive, profitable way. There was no managerial model or blueprint for roles, nor was there a tested business plan. I worked with individuals and the team as a whole to redefine and enhance their relationship to the larger organization, which by this time had a very different culture than their own.
S forged further innovation in curated, interactive media experiences through her promotion to GM of digital media for two channels. Again I joined S and the newly created team as they worked on both tactical and strategic plans. While S embraced the notion of storytelling as a business strategy, I coached S on her personal (internal) narrative about herself and her expanding impact on the world. I supported S as she become an even more highly recognized leader not only in her company but on the world stage–most recently spearheading the industry revolution of social TV, storytelling without borders and second-screen co-viewing experiences. Under S’s stewardship the company experienced a 200% year-over-year increase in visitors to its digital properties. We worked on her personal brand, her balance of energy-generating and energy-depleting activities, and her ever-growing platform, recognizing that S had a valued point of view as a manager, working mother, industry leader, and innovator.

I met P when she was COO of a large securities exchange and I was working with the executive team as they shifted from manual to electronic trading. I later worked with her as Managing Director and then CEO of a large investment bank. Organizationally, we crafted and co-led management team conferences around the world to improve business discipline and economic growth. On a personal level, over the years, we worked through threats to her values from an aggressive press and private investors. When P later became an advisor to a government finance minister, I worked with her to operationalize her vision of sustainable and fair economic models.
As P’s ability to influence the financial services industry on a wider stage grew, she joined me on a Quest to Asia where she received powerful reinforcement that she was a respectable ‘force’. Ultimately she decided to create a new model of investment company to be launched next year. I continue to support her as she raises a new fund. P and I are exploring programming to take potential investors to various parts of the world to study alternative modes of leadership and financial returns, to create a bond between investors who share similar values, and to see P and her new business partner in action.

W, a lawyer at a major consumer goods company, contacted me when his job appeared to be in jeopardy. I helped him negotiate the terms of departure, and supported him as he worked through the shame, anger, lessons, and ultimate relief related to losing his job. I then assisted W with various emotional issues in his family as his father (who was living in London) became gravely ill and passed away. We created a strategy to explore past relationships and new opportunities. Ultimately W joined with old college friends in launching a small investment fund that has been growing steadily. He has created a more integrated life on two continents working both in the US and in England where part of his extended family still resides.
I helped W develop his business plan, begin a blog, vet proposals, and refine his unique point of view. We established a program for W to work in partnership with his previous company, leveraging his legal capabilities and their surplus products to support community initiatives.
On the personal side, following a dramatic anxiety attack during a high visibility interview, I provided techniques to control future panic attacks. We also crafted a leisure plan for W to reconnect to his creative side strategizing participation in nonprofit boards as a gateway back to his artistic passions. The new rhythms of W’s life required a readjustment of habits and expectations as his wife’s work style had not changed. Several meetings as a couple produced new ideas for relaxation and exploration of different shared intellectual opportunities.
Expression & Expansion

G began his work with me when he was heading the Americas for a global retail store that was rapidly expanding under his leadership. I helped G explore obstacles to self-confidence and trust in others, and we worked together as he built new personal supports both socially and professionally. I invited him to a program I was co-leading in India, which gave G the opportunity to interact with inspirational leaders, make new professional and social connections, and reduce the loneliness and isolation attendant to a career spent building businesses in new markets around the world.
G eventually decided to return to company headquarters in Europe and assume a position that placed him on the management committee. I now coach G on how he can use his new role to impact not only the lives of the company’s 30,000 employees but the communities the company serves. Given my experience in many of the markets G is involved in, I can provide a unique perspective on how G can continue to leverage his leadership, and having seen him manage challenging situations in India, I am better able to personalize the plan for his development.
